5 Free Lightroom 3 Black and White Presets
At the risk of stating the obvious, to run these presets you need a copy of Adobe Lightroom 3.0:
Adobe Lightroom 3 Full Software (Aff.) To my mind Lightroom is must have software for the photographer; Much more so than Photoshop. Unlike Photoshop it is is actually ridiculously cheap for what it does. At the time of writing it is available for around $140.

How to get the presets
I have had several requests lately re Lightroom settings that I use for monochrome. Here are five presets that will produce similar results to my own.
They can be directly downloaded from here:
To install – Unzip the flie then Right Click over presets in Library and select import.
A bit about the presets
The most useful of these presets will probably be BW 1. It is general purpose high contrast that seems to work well on photographs taken outside on sunny days.
BW 2 is another general purpose preset.
BW3 has a fairly pronounced dark vignette
BW4 is soft high contrast. This one is proving a lot more useful than I thought it would.
BW5 is very high contrast with a hard black edge – no middle ground with this one = it will either make an image or make an image look ridiculous.
The fairly extreme BW 5 preset.
I have not touched the color channels.
These presets will not change lens distortion or pre crop vignette.
Black and white created in all cases by using saturation slider so if you want ot reintroduce color it is easy.

Treat these as a starting point and adapt to suit your needs.
I have all my BW presets in one folder and just mouseover them and choose the one that looks the best in the navigator window as a starting point.
Any comments, questions or problems – just leave a comment and I’ll try my best to help.
