Steve Johnson was originally a painter who took photographs. Over the last decade he has become a photographer who paints occasionally. His distinctive minimal style stems from the belief that subject matter is not as important as aesthetic considerations like composition, tone, and line.
He has taught visual art and undertaken commercial art projects on both sides of the Atlantic and in the Middle East. He and his wife also owned a gallery that specialized in both painting and photography.
His work has been exhibited in both the United States and the United Kingdom. He is a UK citizen who lives and works in the American Midwest.
He has written a book, The Minimalist Photographer, which is due to be published in both print and Kindle format sometime in April 2013. The book has its own website here: The Minimalist Photographer
His current ebook, Low Cost High Impact Photography, is still available, exclusively on Amazon, in Kindle format only. It is still only 99 cents.
Just to save any confusion the books are very different and are not connected in any way other than the facts that he is the author and they are about photography.
Low Cost High Impact Photography is a collection of blog posts, photographs and articles along with some original writing to fill in some big gaps. It is also self published, an entirely in-house effort that it has proven incredibly popular and is still selling well Amazon order page plus reviews, etc.
The Minimalist Photographer is published by:Rocky Nook,
