More Lake Effect Snow
This latest round dumped about 14 inches and instead of shoveling I was indoors drinking coffee and taking photographs of other people working really really hard. Yup this is a wintry weather photo diary shot entirely from inside my house.
This woman was impressive, she was going for a good hour digging that truck out.
As well as doing her sidewalk. Made me tired just watching her.
These two guys were doing what used to be the YMCA and is now a church. It is a huge building occupying a fair portion of a quarter mile square block. I don’t know if they do the whole sidewalk and surrounding area but they certainly earn their money.
A well earned breather
This guy does the local community theater (which used to be a church) I have moved from a land with a pub on every corner to one with a church on every corner – not a good trade in my humble opinion.
This is the view out of the back of our house – not much activity here.
You don’t really think that I wouldn’t do my share? this is the easy side of the house, steps and about 60 feet of side walk. The steps are about 3ft 6in wide so as you can see it was a fair dump of the white stuff. Heaviest so far this year. More than the one in December but a lot less wind so this one was much more even. Shoveling can be fun on a cold dry sunny day but today was anything but. It was to close to freezing to be anything but damp and the cloud cover was very low. Normally this means that we will get a really crisp bright day tomorrow. I haven’t checked the forecast yet but I am hoping. If we lose the damp and get some sun I plan on getting back up to the lake for another session.
This is the other side of the house, the one with another 60ft of sidewalk and a drive. My wife keeps telling me she is going to get me a snowblower and I keep saying that if she does it will just sit in the garage. My will is softening a little each year though. Took me two and a half hours to shovel today – I’m sure it only used to take me an hour and a half.
Oh yes, about the car. I know it is a gas guzzling SUV but in my defense I needed something to lug big pieces of artwork around some rough country and it did the job. My in-laws also live about an hour away in the sticks and I need something capable of getting to them in case of emergency and in any weather. Anyway that is the case for the defense. The bumper sticker on the bumper is an Obama 08 one. For balance their is a Howard Dean one on the other side!
