Three pawns on a glass brick. This shot is all about reflection and refraction. I have always been more interested in what things do to light rather than the objects themselves.
The three ‘lanes’ are beveled and this property makes them show identical reflections. The reflection in this case is one multi-pane window. The outside of the -lanes’ are raised hence the highlights.
Processing was done, as usual in Lightroom 4. The contrast was bumped up to emphasize the windows and highlights.
The image reminded me of runners at the start of a track race hence the title.
