Photographs of a Snow Storm
A big storm rolled through these parts yesterday and today. here are a few snapshots, some taken through windows yesterday and others while walking around today.
Winds were gusting up to 50 mph which made for a lot of drifting snow. Getting about this morning on foot was interesting as depths could vary from zero to close to three feet in the space of a couple of yards.
The above photograph was shot from my office/studio yesterday evening. I basically opened the window and fired off a few quick shots. The light reflecting off the falling snow makes the shot interesting. I like the bleakness of snow scenes more than the Christmas card snowglobey type ones.
I snapped this on a walkabout this morning. The snow was coming in squalls but it wasn’t too unpleasant. Working against the wind was tough though. Looks like more attention was paid to keeping the alleyways ploughed than the main streets.
This is the same view as the night shot above only this one was taken at 1pm in the afternoon. All of these pictures were taken with a compact camera but I am going to try to take some more professional ones later on today if the wind dies down a little and the snow finally stops.
