Right tool for the job

This shot is an illustration of why a compact camera is more suited to some tasks than a DSLR.
I wanted the objects in this shot to appear very solid and have lots of presence for want of a better word. To achieve this I needed a relatively large depth of field for a close up shot.
The smaller sensor of a point and shoot facilitated this and I am pretty sure that this shot couldn’t have been achieved with a 35 mm sensor, or even a crop or micro 4/3rds one.
The large object is a very old screwdriver. I was very pleased with the way the screw turned out as this ‘solidity’ was exactly what I was trying to achieve with this shot.
